Small-batch, hand dyed yarn from Portland, Maine
I’m a creative person, and when feelings get big and confusing, I don’t always know what to do with them. I usually end up making things. It’s not a solution, really—it’s just how I get through.
I saw the Melt the ICE pattern on Ravelry and it felt like a good place to put my attention for a while. Something to focus on when everything else feels heavy. When I went to start, I realized I didn’t have any red yarn. So I made some. While I was dyeing, it crossed my mind that I probably wasn’t the only one who needed red right now.
I’m doing this as a preorder mostly so I know how much I can make. Maine is in the middle of a big snowstorm, I’m limited to what I already have, and I can only make about 45 skeins total.
ICE is in Portland, Maine right now, harassing and arresting our friends and neighbors. That feels scary and overwhelming, and I don’t really know what to do with that. This is the one small way I know how to respond. I’ll donate the profits from every skein sold to Project Relief ME, a local organization helping people in our community. It’s not much, but it’s something, and right now that feels important.
